In all honesty, the only thing you need to do to go to the Work Ready Careers Fair is rock up between 11:00am – 2:00pm on Wednesday 9 August at the Curtin Stadium…but you will get so much more out of it if you do a bit of prep work first.
- Do your research! You’ve heard this one before – head to our event page, check out the employers and make a list of the ones you are particularly interested in, and come up with a plan of attack for the day. Take this one step further and research the companies, and come up with some questions you want to ask the representatives. In particular, look for company values and recent company changes including new ventures or acquisitions. If nothing else, this is a great opportunity for you to practice your networking skills.
- Humanities students, register for the Networking Zone. Speaking of networking, we have six professionals from a variety of arts industries willing and able to help you practice your networking skills. Read their bios, then register for the zone.
- Brush up your resume and bring it along for a resume review. Our Career Development Consultants will be on hand at the Fair to review your resume. If you put in a bit of effort to your resume before you get it reviewed, you will get more out of the process. Check out our resume tips, or complete our online resume module.
- Book into a workshop. We have Camp America, PwC, Pitcher Partners, UniBank and Navitas all conducting workshops at the event. Careers, Employment & Leadership will also be conducting workshops on Employability and Leadership skills. If you’re interested in hearing from these employers or CCEL, make sure you book into the workshops on UniHub and head along.
