Congratulations to Tarek Atta – winner of our ‘CEO For A Day’ competition!

Tarek is passionate about business development and, during this semester’s Careers Fair, took the opportunity to speak to a representative from the Small Business Development Corporation. He also attended the industry pop-ups held on campus during that week.

Currently studying Business Administration, Tarek will be spending a day with Paul House, CEO of leading global mining-tech company IMDEX Limited.

This opportunity will be incredibly valuable to me, bridging the gap between my current perception of the role of a CEO and the reality. To learn from a strong role model will exceed any experience I’ve had in developing myself as an individual.

I am passionate about further enhancing my skills in the business environment. I’m an avid consumer of entrepreneurial books and podcasts, but would love to expand on my knowledge by communicating with industry professionals. As Albert Schweitzer emphasises ‘Example is not the main thing in influencing others; it is the only thing’ proving the importance of learning from an established role model.

I’m extremely grateful for this opportunity as I am constantly living a life of self-development, which I believe is an ongoing, never ending process. I am a firm believer in helping others as it will come back to you when you are in need of help. As Mahatma Gandhi said ‘The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others’.
