Austal is the Australian shipbuilder, global defence Prime contractor and marine technology partner of choice; designing, constructing and supporting innovative commercial and defence vessels for the world’s leading operators.

From safe, modern and efficient shipyards that feature advanced, modular manufacturing processes, located in Australia, the USA and the Philippines, Austal has successfully delivered more than 255 vessels to 100 operators in 44 countries, since 1988.

Whilst acknowledged as the industry leader in high-speed aluminium vessel design and construction – and the world’s largest aluminium shipbuilder – Austal’s extensive portfolio has expanded to include steel, with the commencement in 2017 of the 19 vessel Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project for the Commonwealth of Australia.

Austal has proudly developed some of the world’s most iconic vessels, ranging in size from 16 to 127 metres and including the 127 metre Independence variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and 103 metre Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) platform for the US Navy, the 58 metre Cape-class Patrol Boat for the Australian Border Force and Royal Australian Navy and the 72 metre High Speed Support Vessel (HSSV) for the Royal Navy of Oman.

Austal’s demonstrated capability to develop customised commercial and defence solutions, based on proven design platforms delivered on time and on budget, has seen clients from around the world continue to engage Austal to deliver complex, multiple vessel programs.

Through-life capability management services, including in-service support and integrated logistics support is provided to customers worldwide through dedicated service centres located in Australia, the USA, Philippines, Middle East and Singapore.

Austal also offers value-adding technology that enhances vessel operations management and seakeeping performance, through proprietary systems including Marine Link and Ride Control.
