Gold Fields St Ives is a well-established operation comprising a mix of ‘owner-mined’, open pit and underground operations feeding the Lefroy CIL mill with a current capacity of 4.7Mtpa. Our operation is located 20 kilometres south-east of Kambalda and 80 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie. Gold Fields are proud to support the local Kalgoorlie-Boulder community with a largely residential workforce and offers a bus service to and from site every day.
Its current production of 350,000 to 400,000 ounces per annum makes it one of Australia’s leading operations. The tenement holdings are located in the highly prospective Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt and encompass under-explored ground that has been recently acquired or is defined as new exploration space because of innovative new models for target generation.
An intensified exploration programme continues to be a key anchor in replacing Mineral Reserves and growing operational flexibility going forward. The Invincible open pit, now a cornerstone of production at the mine, represented a major discovery in 2012 and in conjunction with the growing potential at Invincible underground, Invincible South and Incredible, has emphasised the high prospectivity of the Speedway corridor, which is prioritised in the 2016 exploration campaign.
